Dive Video This is video Karin and Scott shot of some of their diving.
Scott swimming with sharks
Jason got this great shot of Scott swimming in front of a group of sharks. They really didn't seem so interested in us. These are black tipped reef sharks.
Eel Crab Video
Lori took these shots with her phone video camera. You can see stills of this eel here.
Shark Tagging Jason was kind enough to give us some of his professional grade video of the shark tagging. Scott caught the shark and handed him off to Alan. Alan brought him around to the side of the boat and he and Jenn got the shark calmed down. Jenn and Scott got a noose on the sharks tail and got to hold the line with the hook (and head with all those teeth) while Alan and Jenn took down the measurements and tagged the shark. Once released the shark was swimming around pretty fast, so we think he was well on his way to tell his buddies about his abduction by aliens.
Last Day
Thanks to Jason for this last reality TV capsule of the trip. We went out to get in one last snorkel (best snorkel site on the island according to local legend) before the flight back to Oahu. A squall came in and eventually we all ended up in the water to get warm. Who knew it could get so cold so close to the equator. On the way back we slipped into survival mode and huddled close to keep warm. When John started to speed up the boat we were sure that frostbite from windchill was the next step. We moved to the bottom of the boat (thank goodness John was made of tougher stuff than the rest of us and was able to call ahead for hot chocolate and get us back to the dock).
You can see some of Jason's professional video here. He does some really incredible work so please take a look.
