We took a quick tour before lunch to get a lay of the land. This bay has some great sunrises, so we will have to come back here later.

The dining room has a great view of the ocean. It is screened, so you can have the feel of outdoor dining without the bugs.

Entrance to the kitchen. The kitchen is located on the back of the dining room.

Food storage lockers and freezer. Supplies are brought in by plane and supply boat.

The lenai is perfectly located in the center of the cabins. It is the perfect spot to gather at the end of a day of exploring, to share stories, drinks and the sunset.

You need to be a little self-suffiecinet to live so far from civilization. The people of Palmyra collect their own water. The cistern was built about 1940 by the Navy. It hold 100,000 gallons of water which is collected off of the roof. One inch of rain translates to about 1,000 gallons of water.

The residents have to make their own electricity. This is the generator house. It runs on diesel fuel. The cool flip-flop art was created with flip-flops that have washed up on the beach over the years!

This is the Palmyra Yacht Club (very exclusive membership). There is a ping pong table and TV inside (with a huge library of movies). With all there is to do on the island I'm sure that this is the least-used bulidng onthe property.

Boat ramp and staging area for diving or fishing excursions.

Workshop where they can make or fix just about anything.

Dry lab and communications. While you can connect with the outside world, you are still on island time - so don't wait until the last minute to print out that boarding pass or you'll miss your flight!

Our cabin and home for our week in Pamyra. Cabins are cozy and have lights, ceiling fan, bed, storage and electricity. They also have really great views of the ocean - the waves are lapping just steps from the front door.

The accomodations were great. Community toilet and bath houses were located right behind the cabins.
