Great pre-sunset drama!

Ahhh! Our first sunset in Pamyra.

I got up early on the first day to try and catch some early morning light. I headed straight out to the cove that we saw on our first day and was not disappointed.

Just a pretty flower.

The sunlight on the wall of the Pamyra Yacht Club almost looks like a painting.

This turned out to be my favorite shot of the whole trip. The jungle has almost totally recliamed this building. I loved the way the windows framed the shot.

The tropics will eventually overgorw everything! The island is not full of wrecked buildings, but the few that remain make for great shots. This building collapsed around a large machine.

Lori and I went exploring one afternoon. This wreck looks like it belongs to Indiana Jones!

Pretty purple flower.

Art can be found all over thte island . This mural is on the side of the water cistern. Hard to believe that this far out in the middle of the ocean you can hve garbage wash up on the beach - but it is a serious problem all over the Pacific.

The Yacht Club has been decorated with a collection of objects that were found on the beach.

Painted heads line the dock.

I just love this sign as you arrive on the island.

Even the front of the Yacht Club was arftfully decorated with found objects from the sea.

I'm not sure why certain piles of rusted metal start to look like art at some point, but this fits the bill for me.

Ah, back to where we started. It is a bittersweet moment to be leaving Pamyra. We had a great time, but we din't have enough time to do everything. We dove every day, snorkeled, tagged fish and shark, hiked, discussed conservation and made some great new friends. But we didn't get to see the whole island or get a chance to kayak. Because of a squall that came in on the last day we didn't get to see coral gardens (which everyone says is the best snorkeling on the island). So we have already put in a request to Anders to be invited back sometime soon.
