We visited southern Africa this year. It is probably one of the best vacations that we have ever taken! The land reminded us a lot of Arizona and it felt a lot like a second home. Some of the plants and animals were different from anything that we have ever seen before, but the overall look and feel of the land — the sandy soil, scrub landscape, basalt canyons — were very similar to the Prescott area of Arizona.
We traveled from South Africa to Zambia (Victoria Falls) and then on to Botswana. We started in very dry desert and moved through lands with more water, ending up in the Okavango Delta with lots of water and vivid green plant life.
I've organized the site based on our travel calendar. Some days have several pages to keep the pages from running on too long. I hope you enjoy the information and the photos.
Scott shot some awesome video. We took the best clips and added them to the web site as QuickTime video. Now you can see the action, hear the lions roaring, and watch the wild dogs fighting a hyena.
