Ideas to stay in touch with customers

It's always a good idea to remind your customers about your company, your products and services – and the benefits of doing business with you!
Do you have a regular customer contact program? You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you want. Here are three ideas to get you started:

  • Try an e-newsletter (like the one you're reading) or some other program where your customers are receiving information from you on a regular basis. To reinforce your image, consider using a masthead with your logo and overall company look. Create a unique look for your emails that recipients will remember – and be sure the look ties in with your web site for maximum impact.
  • Send thank-you or customer-appreciation cards. Make an even bigger impact by printing blank cards with your business' logo and name on it and handwriting a personal message (like the salespeople at Nordstrom do).
  • Send a series of “did you know . . .” mailers. You can educate your customers on your products or services they don’t yet use. Or help educate them on how to get all the benefits of the product they’ve purchased. Mention awards you’ve received, to remind customers why you’re great to do business with.

Never assume your customers have read all of your materials or your web pages (or know all of the benefits your company or products offer). Educate, educate, educate. Stay in front of your customers to help them get maximum value from your products and services, remind them what a great resource you are to continue to do business with – and stay “top of mind”, so when their next need arises, they’ll remember you.

There are some great giveaways you can get with your name printed on them. But make sure you're getting the right one for your message. For more information, check out the tips in "How to use premiums to promote your business" at www.wildwomandesign.com/articles.html.

I designed this series of cards for MichelePW. The cards are great for keeping her name in front of her clients. They are small (to keep costs down) and she adds a handwritten personal note on the mail side.
