Two great ways to get the best design -- and save money

Here are two fabulous tips to get the highest quality design for the lowest price:

  1. Whenever you provide elements to your designer -- from copy to photographs to illustrations -- make sure they are the final approved version.

  2. Wait to get started on a project until you can provide everything at once to your designer.

But you want to get started NOW?
Your design will be tighter and better if the copy is final and the designer has all the photos before getting started. Plus, it will save you time and money. Why?
- Removing or adding a few paragraphs of copy could require a redesign of the page.
- Or you could discover that a photo you dropped in at the last moment doesn't really fit after all.
Consider how an Executive Director could have avoided this very expensive disaster . . .

The company was planning their annual mailing.  They hired a copywriter and designer, went through several drafts of copy, and then went through several drafts of the design for the mailing piece.  When all the changes were made, the copywriter and designer thought the project was completed.

But the Executive Director still needed to send the copy to her boss.  And the boss wanted to go in a completely different direction with the copy.  So much so, that all of the work already done on the project was essentially wasted.

Don’t make this kind of expensive mistake!   Consider everything your copywriter and designer should know before beginning a project.  Consider everyone who needs to approve your materials at the DRAFT stage.

Plan ahead to save yourself costly changes -- and unwelcome additions to your original budget.
