Don't forget the call to action

You've spent all this time and money crafting the perfect direct mail piece. Make sure you get the most bang for your buck by including a call to action.

If you don't tell your customers what you want their next step to be, then chances are, they won't take a next step, no matter how great the direct mail piece is.

Call to actions can include asking for their business, asking them to visit your website or your store or asking them to call a toll-free number for more information.

Even better than just asking your target market for their business is to offer them an incentive to do so. Some good incentives: A free gift. A discount on the customers' next purchase. An invitation to enter a contest. A free report or other information.

Make sure your call to action and incentive are prominent in your direct mail piece. You don't want your target market to miss them.
